Fonyakov Oleg Antoninovich

Born in 1899 in Lugansk, Dnipropetrovsk region (according to other sources, in Yekaterinoslav). Studied at the Mining Institute and worked in his specialty in the gold mines of Altai (1920s). Chairman of a prospector's artel for gold mining. Arrested on May 15, 1925 in Ust-Kamenogorsk. In August 1925, he was transferred to prison in Semipalatinsk. After a hunger strike, he was released on his own recognizance not to leave. Sentenced to 3 years' imprisonment. In 1926, he was released early. After his release, he returned to Leningrad. In 1928-1931 he worked in the gold mines of Aldan. He was arrested for the second time in 1930 for abuse of office: unauthorized distribution of food among the starving. He spent 9 months in the GPU prison in Aldan, after which he was released, the case was dismissed, and he was reinstated at work. From 1934 - Chief Engineer of the Geological Exploration Department of the Lenzoloto Trust in Bodaibo, Irkutsk Region. He was arrested in early April 1936, and after two weeks in an Irkutsk prison, he was released on his own recognizance not to leave. He was arrested again on 31 December 1936. On 26 February 1937, a Special Collegium of the East Siberian Court sentenced him to 7 years in a labor camp under Articles 58-10, Part 1, and 58-14 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. He was imprisoned in a labor colony in the village of Bukachacha, Chernyshevsky District, Chita Region. He worked as the head of capital works at mine #2. He was arrested on October 16, 1937, and accused of being an active participant in a counterrevolutionary sabotage organization in the Bukachachinskaya KMR. On December 29, 1937, a special troika of the NKVD Directorate for the Chita Region sentenced him to capital punishment under Article 58-7-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. He was executed on February 5, 1938. He was rehabilitated on July 22 (according to other sources, on July 27) by the Chita Regional Court.
