From peasants. A graduate of the Moscow Commercial Institute (now Plekhanov Russian University of Economics), he quickly became a well-known figure in the field of commercial education, co-founded a number of commercial educational institutions, taught accounting and commercial computing. In 1913 he returned to the Moscow Commercial Institute as a teacher. In 1918–1919 was a member of the collegium of the People's Commissariat for Education, and in 1921–1922. - Head of the department of socio-economic education of Glavprofobra. The first rector of the Moscow Industrial and Economic Institute (MPEI) in 1921–1924, since 1925 - vice-rector. In 1929, during the disbandment of the MPEI and the "cleansing" of its team, he was repressed. Information about his further fate was not found. (according to other sources, hanged himself without waiting for arrest)
