Shmonov Alexander Anatolievich

Genus. 02/21/1952 in Leningrad. After serving in the Soviet Army, he began working as a mechanic at the Izhora plant in Kolpino, and lived in a workers' hostel.
Since 1989 - a member of the Kolpinsky branch of the Leningrad People's Front (LNP). In 1990 he joined the Free Democratic Party of Russia (FDPR). He considered the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU M.S. Gorbachev guilty of establishing a totalitarian regime in the USSR, as well as suppressing a rally in Tbilisi on 04/09/1989 and pogroms in Baku on 01/20/1990. Decided to physically destroy Gorbachev and make democratic presidential elections possible. From March 1990, he posted leaflets calling for the assassination of Gorbachev. In 1987 he joined the Society of Hunters and Fishermen. In 1990 he received permission to purchase hunting firearms. 11/07/1990 in a column of demonstrators approached the Mausoleum, where the leadership of the USSR, headed by Gorbachev, was located. When 47 meters were left to the Mausoleum, he pulled out a sawn-off shotgun, aimed at Gorbachev's head and pulled the trigger. At the last moment, a police officer hit the barrel, and the bullets went past. Detained at the scene of the crime by the KGB of the USSR. He spent about a year in prison, then was declared mentally ill and sent to a psychiatric hospital for four years. He was discharged on 06/07/1995, recognized as a disabled person of the II group. For about a year he worked as a plumber, created and headed a repair and construction company, then began to engage in active social activities. He distributed leaflets organized by him "Party of the opportunity for a citizen to secede from Russia with the territory." In 1999, in the elections to the State Duma, he ran for the 206th Admiralty district of St. Petersburg.
