In 1922 he returned to Petrograd. He graduated from the Military Medical Academy (1926), worked as the head of medical institutions in Novocherkassk, Zhitomir, Moscow, Leningrad. Since July 1934 - Head of the Medical Service of the Military-Political Academy of the Red Army. Tolmacheva (Leningrad), military doctor of the 1st rank. In the summer of 1937, he was expelled from the party (accused of Trotskyist vacillations in 1927, of ties with enemies of the people and concealing ties with relatives abroad), dismissed from service. He worked as a neuropathologist in polyclinic No. 2 at the factory. Khalturin. Arrested on 12/19/1937, accused of collaborating with foreign intelligence and spying for Latvia.
