Genus. in 1872 (according to other sources, 1882) in Kostroma province; from a priest's family; secondary education; social democrat. In 1899 he was expelled from Kharkov to Kostroma under police supervision for participating in student riots. In 1908 he was subjected to administrative deportation to Arkhangelsk for 2 years for unreliability. In the 20s he was a member of the Menshevik faction in Kostroma. Arrested in Kostroma on March 17, 1923, he was placed in a correctional home there. In August 1924 he served exile in Tyumen.
