Crew member of the tanker "Tuapse", captured in 1954. He left Taiwan for Brazil, and from there to Uruguay. There, in 1957, he appeared at the Soviet consulate and was sent to the USSR. But after a pompous press conference, he was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison for “treason.” Released in 1963 on pardon. Rehabilitated in 1990. After his release, he worked as a restorer and housekeeper of the monastery.
