In 1943 headed the new Polish Workers' Party, created to replace the CPP, dissolved by J. Stalin in 1938. On the night of 01.01.1944. elected chairman of the Home Council of People's Republic and held this post until February 1947. After the war, Bierut played an important role in establishing a regime friendly to the Soviet Union in Poland and suppressing the opposition. In 1947-1952. was president and chairman of the State. Council of the Polish People's Republic, 1952-1954. - Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Poland. Since December 1948 - Member of the Politburo of the PUWP, from December 1948 to March 1954. - Chairman of the Central Committee of the PUWP, since March 1954. until his death - First Secretary of the Central Committee of the PUWP.
