Genus. in 1899 in Riga; Latvian. He took part in the revolutionary movement on the side of the Bolsheviks, and in 1917 was a member of the Red Guard. Then he went over to the side of the opposition and participated in the illegal struggle against Soviet power. Arrested on January 19, 1928. Kogpu was sentenced to deportation to the Arkhangelsk region. for 3 years. By decree of the OSO at the Kogpu dated April 15, 1929, he was released. Arrested 04/27/1936. Sentenced by OSO under the NKVD of the USSR on 08/04/1936 under Art. KRTD to 5 years in prison. In conclusion - in Vorkuta. Released on April 27, 1941. After his release, he lived in Vitebsk and worked as a bacteriologist in a city hospital. During the Second World War he ended up in France. Participated in the partisan movement. After the war, he lived near Paris, collaborated with the Socialist Messenger (New York), and published under the pseudonym “Iv. Ivanov). Died in Paris on January 21, 1953. Rehabilitated in the 1928 case by the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation on July 1, 1993.
