Genus. in 1943. In 1974, for political reasons (in particular, he wrote an article about Joseph Brodsky for a five-volume volume prepared by V. Maramzin in samizdat), he was not allowed to defend his completed dissertation on B. Brecht. Following this, as a wanderer, or being hired as an assistant on geological expeditions, he undertook a number of trips around the country (Central Asia, Siberia, etc.). In 1978, he and his wife were able to emigrate to Vienna, and since 1979 he has lived in Lindlar near Cologne.
