Born in 1922 in Nizhny Novgorod, in 1924 he moved with his parents to Leningrad. In 1939 he graduated from high school, entered the chemistry department of Leningrad State University. In 1940 he was drafted into the army, from 1941 he participated in the Great Patriotic War, was wounded. In 1943 he was demobilized. He worked as a physics teacher at school No. 33 in Leningrad, attended the Studio of the beginning author at the Leningrad branch of the Writers' Union. In March 1945, together with other members of the circle, he was arrested for writing poetry. Sentenced by the Military Tribunal of the NKVD troops under Art. 58-10, 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years of imprisonment. In 1945-1949 he was imprisoned in camps in the Arkhangelsk region, in Molotovsk (now Severodvinsk), in 1950 - in the Abez special invalid camp. In Abez he met the philosopher Krasavin L.P. and the art critic Punin N.N. In August 1952 he was sent to work in the coal mines in Inta. He was released in the fall of 1954. He was rehabilitated in 1955. He continued his studies at the correspondence department of the physics department of Leningrad State University, worked as a physics teacher in Leningrad schools, and as the head of the physics department of the Leningrad City Institute for Advanced Teacher Training. He is the author of memoirs about Karsavin "Two Years in Abez"
