Karsavin Lev Platonovich

Born in 1882 in St. Petersburg; Russian; higher education: historian, philosopher; no name. In 1922 he lived in Petrograd, was elected rector of Petrograd University, in 1918-1922 he was a member of the Petrograd "Brotherhood of St. Sophia", in 1919-1922 a member of Volfila, in 1920 one of the founders of the Petropolis publishing house, one of the founders and professors of the Theological Institute, in 1921 he was elected professor of the Social-Pedagogical and Legal Departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Petrograd University; arrested on 16 August 1922; released on 18 October 1922; sentenced by the Kogpu on 10 November 1922 to exile abroad without the right to return. Until 1927 he lived in France, from 1928 – in Kaunas, professor of general history at the Lithuanian University in Kaunas, from 1840 – professor at Vilnius University, from 1941 he simultaneously taught at the Art Institute, and worked for a short time at the Art Museum. In 1944, the Soviet authorities suspended him from teaching at the university, fired him from the museum, and in 1949 fired him from the Art Institute. Arrested on 09.07.1949. Sentenced by the OS MGB of the USSR on 04.03.1950 under Art. 58-4, 58-10, part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years in a correctional labor camp. In custody in the Abezsky labor camp of the Mineralny Correctional Labor Camp (Komi ASSR). He died in a hospital in Abez on 20.07.1952 from tuberculosis.
