Shifris Solo Germanovich
Senior lecturer in the Department of German and French Languages at Tomsk State University and president of the Chamber Music Lovers' Club of the Tomsk House of Scientists. In 1941, he and his family were exiled from Chernivtsi to the Narym District.
Born on February 18, 1913, to a Jewish family in Chernivtsi (then part of Austria-Hungary, since 1918 part of Romania). He studied at the Faculty of Economics and Law at the University of Nancy and attended lectures at the Sorbonne. In June 1941, during the deportation campaign of part of the population from the recently annexed western borderlands of the country, organized by the Soviet government, the Shifris family, along with other fellow countrymen, was deported to Siberia, to the village of Krasnoyarka, Tevriz village council (now Kargasok district). In 1958, the Shifris family moved to Tomsk. Solo Germanovich took a job as a teacher of German and French at Tomsk State University in the Department of Foreign Languages (later the Department of German and French). He was the director of the Chamber Music Lovers Club.
