Genus. in 1936. Studied at the Mathematical Department of Leningrad State University (now St. Petersburg State University) from 1951 to 1956. He worked at Leningrad State University and at the Research Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics. He worked on problems of machine translation, programming theory and other relevant areas. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1975), professor. Participated in the Soviet Esperanto movement. In the 1990s he left to live and work in the USA. In 2000-2009 worked at IBM.
