Ruzov Sergey Sergeevich
Scientist specialist of the General Magnetic Survey Bureau of the State Geophysical Observatory, head of the magnetometric party of the Oil Geological Prospecting Institute, associate professor of the Department of Physical Geography at the Herzen Pedagogical Institute
Born in 1894 in Minsk; no name. Graduated from the Hydrographic Courses in Petrograd (1918), hydrographic engineer-geodesist. Lived in Leningrad, Chekhov St., Bldg. 5, Apt. 38. Scientist at the Bureau of General Magnetic Survey of the State Geodetic Institution, head of the magnetometric party of the Oil Geological Prospecting Institute, associate professor of the Department of Physical Geography at the Herzen Pedagogical Institute, deputy director for academic affairs at the Hydrographic Institute of the Northern Sea Route. Arrested on 11 August 1937. Accused of "belonging to a counter-revolutionary fascist organization that united scientific and technical workers of a number of scientific institutions of the USSR." By the decree of the head of the Leningrad Operations Sector dated 31 October 1937, the case was closed, released on 01 November 1937. Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1938). Arrested for the second time on 15.02.1942. Accused of "taking part in the work of an anti-Soviet organization, the goal of which was to fight for a change in the political system existing in the USSR." Sentenced to capital punishment by the military tribunal of the NKVD troops of the Leningrad District on 23-24-25.04.1942 under Art. 58-3, 58-10 part 2, 58-11 of the Criminal Code. By the decision of the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the USSR, the capital punishment was replaced by imprisonment for 10 years in a correctional labor camp. While imprisoned, he worked in OKB-172. Released on 15.02.1952 as per his term. He was in exile in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the settlement of Severo-Yeniseisky, worked as a guard at a gold mine. Released in 1955, returned to Leningrad, disabled. By the decision of the Leningrad Military District Military Tribunal of 20.12.1954, the sentence was overturned and the case was closed under paragraph 5 of Article 4 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. He died in 1973.
