Ochakovsky Vilen Yakovlevich

Genus. in 1937 in Kherson, Ukrainian. In September 1960 he enlisted in Yakutia. Worked in the newspaper "Socialist Labor" (Mukhtuya village, Lensky district). To become a professional human rights activist, in 1962 he entered the law faculty of Irkutsk State University. Having quickly become convinced that a conflict with the official legal consciousness was inevitable, he left his studies in 1964. In June 1976, he moved to the city of Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod), as a ferry driver, he traveled throughout the European part of the Soviet Union. I intended to write a book. The family moved from Mirny to Alexandria, Kirovograd region. He worked as a driver for some time, and in 1979 he became an underground mining worker of the 3rd category at the Verbolozivska mine of the Alexandriyaugol Production Association. In 1980 he graduated from the Makeevka Mining and Mechanical School with a degree in MGVM (mining machine operator). He prepared postcards - anti-Brezhnev, anti-party photo collages with his cartoons and poems. I scattered these leaflets in Donetsk and Moscow during the 1980 Olympic Games. At the beginning of 1982, I began to create a free trade union. 10/11/1982 arrested during a work shift. Sent for a psychiatric examination to a special department of the Odessa Regional Mental Hospital. Diagnosis: “continuous schizophrenia, paranoid variant.” Returned to the pre-trial detention center of the Kirovograd KGB, then in April 1983 he was sent for treatment to the Dnepropetrovsk special psychiatric hospital. 04/22/1986 transported to the Kirovograd regional mental hospital in the village. New. November 27, 1986 released. He founded the Memorial in Alexandria, then the People's Movement of Ukraine for Perestroika. In January 1989, he went to Moscow for the founding congress of Memorial. The diagnosis of schizophrenia was canceled on June 22, 1988.
Returned to the Vedmezhoyarska mine. By a resolution of the Supreme Court of the USSR dated May 30, 1990, he was rehabilitated due to the lack of corpus delicti in his actions under Art. 187-1 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR. He retired at the beginning of 1991. He actively works at Memorial. V. Stus, in the International "Memorial". For some time he hosted a memorial program on local television called “Torch”. 1992 won a grant from the Soros Foundation for the project "Information Center - Museum of Historical Memory".
