Repin Valery Timofeevich
Public figure, employee of the Leningrad branch of the Solzhenitsyn Foundation (1979–1981)
Born in 1951 in Leningrad. Graduated from a printing school, worked as a typesetter and editor at the editorial office of the Leningradsky Rabochy newspaper. Collected and distributed samizdat, including recordings of political trials, which he attended thanks to his service ID. Passed on information to the KhTS (via K.N. Popov and Yu.A. Shikhanovich). Since 1979, manager of the Leningrad branch of the Russian Public Fund for Assistance to the Persecuted and Their Families of A.I. Solzhenitsyn. Forced to resign in 1979. Arrested on 08.12.1981. After being charged under Article 64 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (which provided for the death penalty for transmitting secret information about the camps abroad), he began to cooperate with the investigation. He gave detailed testimony that was used in several political trials: he was a prosecution witness in the trials of L. Ya. Volokhonsky, I.Z. Tsurkova, A.V. Skobov, B.O. Mityashin. On March 1, 1983, he made a "repentant" statement on Leningrad television. Sentenced by the Leningrad City Court on May 24, 1983 to 2 years in a penal colony and 3 years in exile. Taking into account the time served during the investigation, he was released from custody in the courtroom. He was in exile in the city of Troitsko-Pechorsk, Komi ASSR. In 1986, he returned to Leningrad. He died on December 23, 2019.
