Born on August 16, 1950 in Leningrad. Graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Leningrad State University (1972), worked at Biol. Leningrad State University Research Institute (1974–76), at the Influenza Research Institute (1986–90), taught at school (1976–86). Co-editor and author of the uncensored historical collection "Memory" (L.; New York; Paris; 5 volumes; 1978-1982), then co-editor and author of the historical collection "The Past" (Paris). Organizer of the Antsiferov readings in St. Petersburg, publisher and commentator on the memoirs of N.P. Antsiferov "From Thoughts about the Past" (1992). From 1989 until the end of his life - director, then editor-in-chief of the Phoenix publishing house; member of the editorial board, author and editor of history. almanacs “The Past”, “Links”, “Faces”, “Nevsky Archive” and many others. etc. Died on August 18, 1998 in St. Petersburg.
