At the invitation of the USSR Ministry of Culture, she studied for a year at Moscow State University in Moscow, where she met many representatives of the Soviet intelligentsia. After several trips to the USSR, she was denied entry into the USSR for her connections with dissident circles. In 1966-1969. worked as a proofreader and editor for the Bonn newspaper Ost-Probleme. In 1970 she participated in the creation of the Center for the Study of Religion and Communism in London, and in 1971 she worked on the issue of emigration of Soviet Jews to Jerusalem. In 1972, together with Ivan Agrusov, she founded the Human Rights Society in Frankfurt am Main and was its chairman until 1978. Then she led the public organization Gesellschaft Kontinent e.V. and helped the Russian writer and publicist Vladimir Maximov, who was in exile, publish the Russian-language newspaper “Continent” .
