Engaged in art criticism. Published under the pseudonym "Yuri Chereda" in the chronicle department of the magazines "World of Art", "New Way", "New Time", "Golden Fleece". Since 1907, he was involved in the organization of the Handicraft Museum in St. Petersburg, the first head of the museum. Since 1918 - zemstvo chief in the Valdai district of the Novgorod province. After the revolution - the owner of a weaving workshop (confiscated in 1926). Lived: Novgorod region, Valdai district, Dinner settlement. In 1926 he was deprived of voting rights. In 1931, together with his family, he was administratively expelled from the village. Borovenets, Valdai district, Novgorod region to Siberia. He died in 1957 in the city of Chirchik, Tashkent region, UzSSR.
