Genus. in 1856 in the village of Durnovskaya, Astrakhan district, Astrakhan province; Higher education: graduated from the Kazan Theological Academy. From 1918 he lived in Astrakhan, headed the department of Greek at Astrakhan University; from 1919 vice-rector; arrested in 1922 on charges of opposing the seizure of church valuables; sentenced to 1 year probation, released from custody in October 1922. From January 1923 he lived in Petrograd, gave lectures on liturgics at theological courses. Died 08/10/1929, buried in the fraternal cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
