Smirnov Alexey Petrovich
Historian, art historian, archaeologist
Genus. in 1889 in St. Petersburg; son of a merchant of the 2nd guild; higher education: graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of St. Petersburg University; b/p; historian, art critic, archaeologist. Researcher in the art department of the Russian Museum. In 1924 he lived in Leningrad; arrested and sentenced by the Kogpu under Article 68 to deportation to Siberia for 3 years; the case was reviewed at the request of academician. N.Ya. Marr and stopped after 2 months. In 1929 he lived in Leningrad, Inzhenernaya str., 4, apt. 24. Curator of the art department of the Russian Museum, adjunct at the higher state art history courses at the Institute of Art History. Arrested in the “Sunday” case on April 29, 1929. Sentenced by the Kogpu on July 22, 1929 to 3 years ELEPHANT. Died in Kemperpunkt on March 10, 1930 from typhus. Rehabilitated in the 1929 case by the Presidium of the Leningrad City Court on October 31, 1958.
