In 1955, he signed the "Letter of Three Hundred" - a letter from a large group of Soviet scientists, sent on 10/11/1955 to the Presidium of the Central Committee of the CPSU with criticism of the scientific views and practical activities of T. D. Lysenko (Lysenkoism), who at that time was one of the leaders of biological science in the country. The letter, ultimately, was the reason for the resignation of Lysenko from the post of president of VASKhNIL and some of his adherents and proteges from other leading positions in the system of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
