Ivanov Yury Evgenievich

Genus. 02/11/1932 (according to other sources 1930) in Leningrad, in the family of the artist E.A. Sivers; Russian. After his father's arrest in 1937, he was adopted by his mother's second husband, E.V. Ivanov. In 1948 he graduated from the Art School and entered the Institute at the Academy of Arts. Arrested in 1949, charged under Article 58-10, the case was dropped. Reinstated at the Institute in the fall of 1950, expelled in 1953 due to participation in exhibitions in Paris and publications in the journal Posev. In November 1953 he was drafted into the army, arrested in July 1955 in Leningrad while on vacation, and charged under Art. 58-3, 4, 10 and 11. Sentenced to 10 years in prison. In 1956 he escaped, was wounded and detained. Imprisoned in Dubravlaga. For participation in a general camp strike, he was sentenced on August 6, 1957 by the Kuibyshev Regional Court under Article 58-10 Part 1 to 7 years, imprisoned in the Vladimir prison, then again in Dubravlaga. Sentenced by the Supreme Court of the Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic on June 10, 1963 under Art. 70 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 5 years of imprisonment with the addition of the unserved term, for a total of 10 years. He served his sentence in Vladimir prison and Dubravlaga. By decree of the PVS of the USSR dated September 24, 1971, he was pardoned. Released 06.10.1971. Until April 1973 he lived in Smolensk under KGB supervision. On 04/04/1973 he was forcibly hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital, released in 1975. Rehabilitated on 02/12/1992 by the conclusion of the Prosecutor's Office of the Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
