Genus. 07/24/1907 in the village of Poduzhemye, Kem district, Arkhangelsk province; Russian, from peasants; Higher education: graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Leningrad State University with a specialization in Finno-Ugric peoples (1929), in 1929–1931 she studied at Columbia University in New York, in 1930 she took part in an ethnographic expedition to the Indians of Canada. In 1936–1938 she worked at the Leningrad Public Library as a librarian, in 1938–1941 she was a junior researcher at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In July 1941 she moved to Moscow, was soon evacuated, and until April 1942 she was in the village of Uslan (near Kazan) and Kuibyshev; returned from evacuation to Moscow. Together with her husband, who was sent as a diplomatic worker, she lived in Chongqing (China) from May 1942 to September 1943 and from 1945 to July 1947. From September 1943 to 1945 she was a doctoral student at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Upon returning from China in 1947, she entered the Institute as a junior researcher; arrested 11/26/1947; sentenced by the OS under the USSR MGB on April 23, 1949 under Art. 7-35 by 5 years of ITL; served in "Dubravnoye" at the station. Darkness of the Ryazan railway; released on November 28, 1952. Then she was deported to the Krasnoyarsk Territory. According to the conclusion of the KGB under the Council of Ministers of the USSR and the Chief Military Prosecutor, on March 16, 1954, the link to the settlement was canceled; returned to Moscow. In August 1957 she was reinstated in her position at the Institute of Ethnography, where she worked until her death. Died in Moscow on October 09, 1980; buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery. Rehabilitated by the Military Commissariat of the USSR Armed Forces on March 28, 1956.
