Genus. in 1892 in Samara; from the nobles; son of an officer and librarian of the Naval Corps in Sevastopol; Higher education: graduated from Moscow State University - archaeologist, ethnographer. In 1930 he lived in Moscow, professor at Moscow State University, Institute of Oriental Peoples. Arrested 09/27/1930. Sentenced by the OSO at the Kogpu under Art. 58 to 3 years of exile in the Northern Territory. He was in Vologda. From 1933 he lived in Tbilisi, worked at the State Museum of Georgia; full member of GruzAN (1946). He died in Lielupe (accident) in 1953. He was buried in the Pantheon of Public Figures in Tbilisi. Rehabilitated by the USSR Prosecutor's Office on February 27, 1989.
