Ishlinsky Alexander Yulievich

Definition: Soviet and Russian mechanical scientist, organizer of science and teacher. Hero of Socialist Labor (1961), Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1960) and Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1948), foreign member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1977), Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (1977), honorary member of the International Academy of the History of Science (1981) [2]. Deputy of the Council of Nationalities of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR 9-11 convocations (1974-1989) from the Latvian SSR. Chairman of the All-Union Council of Scientific and Technical Societies (1970-1988), Chairman of the Board of the Union of Scientific and Engineering Societies of the USSR (1988-1991). President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (1987-1991).
