Born in 1876 in the town of Toropets, Pskov province. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yuryev University and was an expert in church law. In 1917, as a member of the audit commission of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, he participated in the congress of learned monasticism and in the summer of 1917 as the only representative from the laity with the permission of the Chairman of the Commission at the Holy Synod for Monastic Affairs.

He was a member of the Holy Council 1917–1918. In 1918–1922 - Member of the Diocesan Council under Metropolitan Veniamin (Kazan) of Petrograd and Gdov.

Arrested on 02/02/1924 by the OGPU PP in the Leningrad Military District. By decree of the OS at the OGPU collegium dated September 26, 1924, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp for a period of 3 years, from which he was released early on March 29, 1927. In 1934 he was arrested again and imprisoned in a camp for two years. In 1937 he was arrested again and executed.

Rehabilitated by the Leningrad prosecutor's office on October 10, 1991.
