Novitsky Yuri Petrovich
Genus. in 1882 in Uman; higher education - Faculty of Law, Kyiv Imperial University of St. Vladimir (1908). He taught in several private Kyiv gymnasiums. He was a forensic investigator at one of the sections of the Kyiv Judicial Chamber. Since 1914, he worked at St. Petersburg University: private associate professor of the Department of the History of Russian Law of the Faculty of Law (1915-1917), professor of the Department of the History of Russian Law of the same faculty (1917-1922). He was involved in jurisprudence, social activities, and actively participated in the affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. Arrested in Petrograd in 1922 as part of the Petrograd trial “in the case of resistance to the seizure of church valuables.” Shot on August 13, 1922. Canonized as a new martyr in 1992.
