New Usad of the Penza province; from a priest's family; higher education: graduated from the historical, philological and oriental faculties of St. Petersburg University (1912); b/p. In 1929 he lived in Leningrad. Senior researcher at the Asian Museum of the USSR Academy of Sciences; full member of the Institute of Physical Education at Leningrad State University; syriologist, historian of early Christianity, teacher of Greek and Syriac languages; professor of oriental studies. Arrested 03/13/1929. Sentenced to the Kogpu on June 22, 1929 under Art. 58-10, 11 to 5 years in a concentration camp. In conclusion - to SLON, then to BBK: in Kemi and in Medvezhya Gora. Released on May 13, 1933. Returned to Leningrad. Rehabilitated in the case of 1929 in 1993. Arrested in Leningrad in December 1933 in the case of the “Evlogievites”; released in February 1934 due to lack of evidence.

In 1942 he was arrested in Leningrad by the NKVD LO on 03/07/1942; sentenced to administrative deportation. Rehabilitated in the 1942 case in 1996. In 1945 he lived in the village. Tarumovka, Kizlyar district, Grozny region, worked as a teacher of German language and geography at school. Arrested 26 (27).10.1945. Sentenced by the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Grozny Region on March 14, 1946 under Art. 58-10, part 2 to 10 years in labor camp. Imprisoned in camps in the Grozny region. Released in November 1954 due to illness. Rehabilitated in the 1945 case in 1997. Died 08/19/1965 in Leningrad.
