Makhlin David Solomonovich

Genus. in 1878 in Odessa; Jew; education: Odessa Commercial School, philosophical faculties at the universities of Berlin, Zurich and St. Petersburg; Social Democrat, member of the Bund in 1901–1914. Arrested in April 1919 in the Menshevik case, acquitted and released. In 1920–1924 he lived in Petrograd, headed the section of the October Revolution of the Museum of the Revolution; arrested 12/16/1924; sentenced by the OS KOGPU on May 15, 1925 to exile to the Urals for 3 years (according to other sources, in the village of Koslan Komi Autonomous Okrug); By decree of the OS KOGPU on June 26, 1925, exile was replaced by deprivation of the right to reside in Moscow, Leningrad, Kharkov, Kyiv, Odessa, Rostov-on-Don. In 1928 he returned from exile to Leningrad, worked in the Plekhanov House (department of the Public Library) as a librarian, and essentially as a bibliographer, archivist, and cataloguer. Arrested 09/16/1930; sentenced by the Kogpu in July 1931 to exile in Kazakhstan for 3 years. While in exile in Semipalatinsk, he worked as head of the archive of the Regional Industrial Union and as a bibliographer at the Regional Central Library named after. N.V. Gogol. Since 1936 he lived in Essentuki. In 1943–1950 he taught at the library technical school; 04/26/1951 arrested; sentenced by the Stavropol Regional Court on 08/08/1951 under Art. 58-2, 10 part 1, part 2 to 25 years in labor camp with confiscation of property and loss of rights for a period of 5 years. He died in December 1952 in a camp. Rehabilitated in the 1924 case by the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office on October 4, 1994; in the case of 1950 - by the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR on June 14, 1989.
