Definition: Soviet party leader.
Reproduction methods:
Bolshevik since 1917. Economist. Since 1923 he was at economic work. Son-in-law of L. D. Trotsky (husband of N. L. Bronstein). Member of the united opposition 1926 --1927. At the end of 1927, he was expelled from the CPSU (b), and then exiled to the village of Samarovo, Tobolsk district. Later he was in exile in Cheboksary. In the first half of the 30s he was arrested several times. In 1935 he was arrested for the last time. Shot during the "Great Terror".
