Born in 1927 in the village of Fomintsy, Vyatka province (now Kirov region)In 1954 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. In 1965 he graduated from the Higher Economic Courses of the USSR State Planning Committee. Since 1985, in the magazine “New World” and other influential publications of that time, he published articles that caused wide public resonance. In 1993 he was elected to the Duma. Signed the “Letter of 42”.
