Sought American citizenship. Arrested on November 4, 1982. Convicted on February 2, 1983. Vyborg District Court of Leningrad under Art. 174 part 1, 206 part 2 for 6 years of a high-security penal colony. In 1987 Prosecutor's Office of the RSFSR Art. 206 part 2 was cancelled, the term was reduced to 5 years. He was kept in the Tyumen UITU, in Gorelovo and Tosno, Leningrad region. Released 09/01/1987 under amnesty. 03/15/1989 received US citizenship, received permission to leave in October 1990, emigrated on December 6, 1990. In May 1992 returned.
