Genus. in 1892 in the village. Zazdrist, Strusiv district, Ternopil region; Ukrainian; Metropolitan of Galicia, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic (“Uniate”) Church. Lived in the Maklakovsky House of Disabled People in the Krasnoyarsk region. Arrested on June 19, 1958. Sentenced by the Supreme Court of the Ukrainian SSR on April 17, 1959 under Art. 7 part 1 of the Law of December 25, 1958 (arrested for writing (originally commissioned by the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs) the 5-volume “History of the Universal Church in Ukraine”). Sentenced to 7 years in labor camp.Pardoned at the request of the Vatican (Resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the USSR dated January 12, 1963). Released on January 26, 1963, he left for Rome in early February.
