Genus. in 1937 in Moscow. He did not receive any special art education. Until 1975 he worked as a layout designer at an art factory. As a cartoonist, since 1975 he has taken part in unofficial (uncensored) exhibitions in Moscow and Leningrad. His works were not published in the USSR until 1987; his work was considered anti-Soviet. Since 1976, his drawings have been published in the West. In 1983, the artist's first album was released in Paris. In 1978, a criminal case was initiated against S.; he went into hiding for several years. In 1983 he was arrested and sentenced on May 12, 1983 by the Brezhnevsky District People's Court of Moscow to 2 years in a general regime labor camp under Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR ("production and sale of pornographic products""). Released in 1985. The first works were published in the USSR in 1987. In 1989 he emigrated to Germany (Berlin). Died in 2006 in Berlin.
