Genus. in 1869 in the Kyiv province; Higher education - graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of Kyiv University. In 1896 he was a member of the Rabocheye Delo group, and in 1897 he participated in the organization of the local branch of the Union of Struggle for the Liberation of the Working Class. Member of the First Congress of the RSDLP. In 1898 he was arrested and imprisoned for 2 years. In 1900 he was exiled for 4 years to the Vologda province; served exile in Totma, Yarensk, Gryazovets, in 1901 transferred to Vologda. He worked as a statistician in the provincial zemstvo. After the Second Congress of the RSDLP he joined the Bolsheviks, and after the revolution of 1905 he became a Menshevik. From 1910 he retired from active party work. In 1917–1918 he was a Menshevik, edited the Odessa newspaper Yuzhny Rabochiy, and worked in the Odessa Provincial Cooperative Union. From 1921 he lived in Kyiv, worked as a librarian at the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.
