Bakhtin Alexander Nikolaevich
Genus. in 1894 in the village. Malye Bobriky, Maloarkhangelsk district (now Glazunov district), Oryol province. Stolbovoy (hereditary) nobleman. From the age of 10 he was sent to the Oryol Cadet Corps, in 1914 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Naval Corps, and in 1916 - an underwater class. During the First World War, he served in the Baltic Fleet in the submarines "Cayman" and "Wolf". For military campaigns he received awards: the Order of Stanislav, III degree, the Order of St. Anna, III degree, the Order of St. Anna, IV degree, with the inscription "For Courage". After the revolution, he continued to serve in the Red Navy. 08/31/1919 the Panther submarine under the command of A. N. Bakhtin sank the English destroyer Vittoria in the Koporskaya Bay of the Gulf of Finland. This was the first serious success of the Soviet submarine fleet, for this feat A. N. Bakhtin was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of War (the first of the submariners). In subsequent years, he served as commander of submarine divisions in the Baltic, on the Black Sea, and also taught at the Naval Academy, at special courses for the commanders of the naval forces of the Red Army, at the same time published in newspapers and magazines, participated in the revival of the Red Fleet. In 1926 he graduated from the Naval Academy. After graduating from the academy, he was transferred to the reserve. After some time, A. N. Bakhtin was arrested. Convicted under article 58 for a period of 5 years and deprived of the Order of the Red Banner. He served his sentence in a camp on the Solovetsky Islands, in 1927 the camp was replaced by exile. In 1929 he was released ahead of schedule, but he returned from exile to Leningrad already sick. He died in 1931 and was buried at the Smolensk cemetery. He was posthumously rehabilitated by the decision of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR of September 29, 1956. By the 100th anniversary of the submarine fleet, the Government of St. Petersburg decided to install a memorial plaque on the house where A.N. Bakhtin lived from 1919 to 1931. On October 20, 2007, a monument to A.N. Bakhtin at his grave.
