Chirkin Vasily Gavrilovich

Genus. in 1879 in the village of Ostroluchie, Tambov Province; member of the RSDLP since 1903. Metal turner. In 1906-1910 he worked legally in the Union of Metalworkers in St. Petersburg. and conducted illegal party work; Member of the London Congress of the RSDLP. He was arrested at least 7 times, spent about 3 years in prisons and 6 years in exile. In 1917 - Delegate from the city of Kolomna (Moscow province) at the All-Russian Conference of the RSDLP in Petrograd; at a meeting of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the RSDLP (o) on September 11, 1917, he was included in the list of recommended party candidates for elections to the Constituent Assembly. 09/22–23/1917 elected to the Pre-Parliament at the Democratic Conference. Delegate of the Extraordinary Congress of the RSDLP (o) (November 30–December 7, 1917) with a casting vote. Member of the bureau of the Group of Unity and Independence of Trade Unions, member of the Central Council of Trade Unions, chairman of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions until 01/14/1918. In 1918 he went over to the Bolsheviks. Arrested in July 1918 and charged with a counter-revolutionary conspiracy; released. In the same year - a member of the Main Board of the State Association of Machine-Building Plants; in 1921-1922 - Chairman of the Central Council of Consumer Societies of the Ukrainian SSR; then - Deputy Chairman of the Board of the CER. In 1938 he retired. Arrested 01/27/1938; sentenced by the OSO under the NKVD of the USSR on 04/03/1938 to 8 years in labor camp. He died in the city of Kolomna, Moscow Region. in 1954. Rehabilitated in 1956.
