Shakhovskoy Dmitry Nikolaevich
Genus. in 1871, the Prince, an officer of the Russian Imperial Army, served in rifle units in the Far East. In 1904-1905 he took part in the Russo-Japanese War. In 1910 he retired as a lieutenant colonel. Director of the Commercial and Industrial Bank, chairman and member of the boards of several joint-stock companies and partnerships. In September 1918, he was arrested as a hostage and imprisoned in the Trubetskoy bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress; later released. During the Civil War, he provided significant assistance in financing the White movement. Together with V.N. Tagantsev, he created underground banking offices in Petrograd and Moscow to sell currency and jewelry in order to finance the fight against the Bolshevik regime, which went bankrupt. 06/06/1920 arrested in Petrograd and imprisoned in the Trubetskoy bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress; later transferred to prison on Gorokhovaya. On June 29, 1920, he was sentenced to 10 years of forced labor and transferred from prison to the hospital of the Diagnostic Institute. At the urgent requests of attorney at law G.L. Belostotsky, who convinced investigator Ozolin that “the prince is mentally ill,” and also for promising a bribe, he was released. He fled abroad, lived in Paris, and maintained constant contact with V.N. Tagantsev. In 1921 - participant in the Reichenhall Monarchist Congress. 01/02/1930 died in Villejuif.
