Arrested by German police on 01/04/11/1950 and handed over to Soviet security authorities. Together with 9 students from the same university, he was accused of espionage and anti-Soviet agitation. Sentenced by the military tribunal of military unit No. 48240 (Dresden) on January 20, 1951 to 25 years in labor camp. He was imprisoned in Vorkuta. Transferred to Dresden (GDR) and released on December 28, 1953. In January 1954 he fled to West Berlin. In West Berlin he studied medicine (dentistry). In 1957 he defended his dissertation. Since 1962 - privately practicing dentist in Switzerland.
