Genus. in 1922 in Shanghai in the family of a Russian military pilot, staff captain N.I. Belousovich. After the end of the civil war, the Belousovich family moved first to China and then to the USA, to San Francisco. In 1941 he entered the University of California, from which he was drafted into the army in 1943. In 1947-1948 completed his studies at the university, having attended by this time all educational courses related to the history of Russia and the USSR. In 1956, he joined the analytical department of the US State Department, where he specialized in relations with the Soviet Union and Soviet policy in Asian countries. In 1976-1977 was the first secretary of the political department of the American embassy in Moscow. He worked in the State Department until the beginning of 1991. After the war, he remained in the army reserve and retired in 1974 with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
