Bogdanov Sergey Nikolaevich

Genus. in 1928 in Leningrad into a family of employees. After the arrest of his father on December 21, 1937, accused of participating in the Russian General Military Union and preparing the murder of Zhdanov during a festive demonstration and his execution on January 18, 1938, in March 1938, he was exiled with his mother to the city of Kustanai (Kazakhstan). In the fall of 1940, after repeated appeals to the authorities by his mother's brother, an honored test pilot, the exile was canceled, but without the right to live in large cities. Mother and son moved to live in the city of Rzhev, Kalinin region. 08/20/1942 was taken away by the German authorities for forced labor in Germany (Halberstadt am Harz). He worked at a military factory and was starving. In April 1945, Halberstadt am Harz was liberated by American troops and transferred to the Soviet occupation zone. Mobilized into the Soviet Army, served in Germany for 5 years. In 1951 he was demobilized and returned to Leningrad. He worked as an apprentice electrician and studied at a school for working youth.
In 1952 he graduated from school with a gold medal, but was denied admission to the Electrotechnical Institute. He entered the Institute of Technology to study. After graduating from the institute with honors, he worked as a teacher and defended his Ph.D. thesis. In 1992, he retired, became a member of the St. Petersburg Memorial Society, and was elected chairman of the board of the St. Petersburg Memorial Society.
