013: Khalichka. Khalichka Maria Edmundovna (1914-?). Personal file of a prisoner

1940 - 1941
Annotation:

Khalichka Maria Edmundovna, born in 1914. Native of Sambir, Lviv Voivodeship (Poland), Polish citizen, secondary education. No pension, single, unemployed (former police officer). Arrested on April 7, 1940 in Lviv, on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 54-13 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR. She was held in prisons in Lviv, Kyiv, Odessa, and Nikolaev. In July 1941, she was transferred to Siberia; from July 24, 1941, she was in Prison No. 3 of the NKVD NSO in Tomsk, and was listed as a person under investigation by the Special Conference of the NKVD of the USSR.

The attack of Nazi Germany on the USSR and the Great Patriotic War that began on June 22, 1941 radically changed the situation of many Polish citizens exiled and under investigation and imprisoned on the territory of the USSR, turning them overnight from "enemies into allies" in the fight against the common enemy. On August 30, 1941, Maria Khaliczka, on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 12, 1941, as a former Polish citizen, was amnestied. Her subsequent fate has not been established.

The file was discovered by chance, in the damp basement of SIZO-1, more than 80 years after it was established. The file is in a deplorable state, the pages are eaten away by fungus and falling apart. The museum staff attempted to dry the documents and make copies.
