Genus. in 1902 in Ekaterinoslav; Jew; higher education: graduated from the natural sciences department of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Leningrad State University; non-partisan. Anthropologist, teacher at the Department of Anthropology at Leningrad State University. Lived in Leningrad (Kirovsky pr., 73/75, apt. 2). In the first half of the 1930s - Art. Researcher at the Institute of Northern Peoples, Head. anthropological office (since 1932). Participant in congresses of zoologists, anatomists and histologists. Arrested on June 10, 1936, during his pre-trial detention he went on a hunger strike. Sentenced. 12/24/1936 visiting session of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR under Art. 58-8, 11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years in prison and 5 years of disqualification with confiscation of property. In custody on Solovki, he was kept in the Savvatyevsky special detention center. Sentenced by a resolution of the Special Troika of the UNKVD LO dated 10/09/1937 to VMN. Shot on November 2, 1937 in the Sandormokh tract (Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). Rehabilitated on November 28, 1990 by the Leningrad Prosecutor's Office.
