Genus. in 1900 in Mariupol. In the 1920s he worked at the North Siberian Joint-Stock Company of Industry and Trade. Since 1933, head of the Hydrographic Directorate of the Main Northern Sea Route. In 1934 he headed the Kara and second Lena transport expeditions, and in 1936–1937 a hydrographic expedition to the Laptev Sea on the icebreaker Georgy Sedov. Lived in Leningrad, worked in the Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route (Glavsevmorput, GUSMP), head of the Main Directorate.
Arrested on May 21, 1938 in the “polar explorers case.” Sentenced by a Special Meeting of the NKVD on December 23, 1939 to 10 years in labor camp. He served time in the Perm camps. Released in 1947. Settled in Mariupol, where he soon died. Rehabilitated on February 20, 1958 by the Military Tribunal of the Moscow Military District.
