Genus. in 1878; member of the RSDLP(b) since 1897, worked as a mechanic at the plant of the joint-stock company Creighton and Co.; in 1912, with his election to the commissioner for elections to the IV State Duma, he went over to the Mensheviks, for which he was branded by V.I. Lenin in the letter “On political spinelessness (Letter to the editor).” In 1914 he broke with the Mensheviks and returned to the Bolsheviks. In 1921–1924 - Chairman of the Petrograd Economic Council and Glavmetal of the Supreme Economic Council. Died 1950, buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery.
