Khanovich Israel Grigorievich
Shipbuilding scientist, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, military engineer of the 1st rank, specialist in the field of hydrodynamics and ship propulsion. Author of works on ship theory and hydrodynamics, author of the popular science book "Academician Alexey Nikolaevich Krylov"
Born in 1909 (according to other sources, in 1907). In 1922 he graduated from the shipbuilding department of the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute. He was engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities at the Naval Academy, the Central Research Institute named after Academician A.N. Krylov, the Higher Naval Engineering School named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky, the Bonch-Bruevich Institute of Communications, and the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute. He was repressed in 1947. He was released in 1955. He was rehabilitated in 1956. He returned to teaching at the Hydrographic School. He died in 1986 (according to other sources, in 1978).
