Senior research fellow at the Astronomical Institute in Leningrad. Arrested on April 14, 1937 by the NKVD Directorate for the Leningrad Region. on charges of counter-revolutionary activities, sentenced to 6 years in prison followed by loss of license for 3 years. According to the Decree of the Leningrad NKVD Department dated February 26, 1940, the investigation into Varzar’s charges was terminated and she was released from custody. According to the Decree of the Military Prosecutor of the Leningrad Military District dated 06/08/1957. the case against Varzar was dismissed for lack of evidence of a crime.
