Markov Alexander Vladimirovich
Astronomer, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor
Born 12.09.1897 in the village of Chernyanka, Kursk province; Russian; no name; higher education, graduated from Petrograd University and postgraduate studies at the Pulkovo Observatory in 1926. Head of the Astronomical Group of the Astronomical Institute. Lived in Leningrad, pr. Nakhimson, 19, apt. 57. Arrested on 09.11.1936 by the NKVD Directorate for the Leningrad Region, accused of participating in a fascist terrorist group. Sentenced on 25.06.1937 by the Special Collegium at the Leningrad Regional Court to 6 years of imprisonment with subsequent disqualification for 4 years. By the resolution of the NKVD Directorate for the Leningrad Region dated 26.02.1940, the investigation was terminated and he was released from custody. Rehabilitated by the resolution of the Military Prosecutor of the Leningrad Military District dated 08.06.1957. Died on 20.11.1968 in Leningrad.
