Genus. 07/05/1883 in locality. Lyady Orshansky district Mogilev province; Jew; member of the CPSU(b). He graduated from high school in 1902. In 1903 he organized a Social Democratic group in Uman, until 1908 he worked illegally in Uman, Odessa, St. Petersburg and Moscow. He was repeatedly arrested and expelled. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University in 1910. An employee of a company supplying factories with metals. From February 1917 - secretary of the Bolshevik faction in the Petrograd Duma. Since 1918 - in responsible positions in the Central Supply Administration of Petrograd, Metaltorg, Sevzaptorg, Sovnarkhoz. In March 1931 he was appointed director of the LFMI. In November 1933 he was transferred to the director's position at Leningrad University. In March 1937 he was expelled from the party for allegedly formerly belonging to the opposition. After an appeal, he was reinstated in the party with a reprimand “for displaying rotten liberalism and dulling vigilance towards the enemies of the party.” Arrested on July 17, 1937. Killed on 08/05/1937 during the investigation (the corpse was thrown into a flight of stairs to stage a suicide). According to the resolution of the NKVD for the Leningrad Region dated August 31, 1937, the criminal case was terminated “under Article 4, paragraph 1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure,” i.e., due to the death of the accused. Rehabilitated by the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Leningrad Military District on October 27, 1957.
